The History Center has been collecting, preserving and interpreting the history of Richmond, Virginia since 1894. The collection is the largest and finest collection of primary source material for researching and interpreting the history of Richmond.

With a focus on the history of Richmond, the museum houses a unique and spectacular collection of objects, papers, and textiles that document the city’s complex history. You'll be able to enjoy some items from the collection in our exhibits, but that's only the tip of the iceberg.

Portions of the collection are available online Online Collections Database.
