Internships
Whether completing an inventory of an important collection, teaching a hands-on educational program to school children or helping to plan a development event, interns promote the Valentine Richmond History Center’s mission to collect, preserve and interpret our region’s rich history.
The History Center offers year-round undergraduate and graduate level internships in the museum field, with projects designed to benefit both the intern and the History Center.

Do you offer funded internships?

- Several of our funded internships are made possible through the Bobby Chandler Internship program, which is generously funded by the Kip Kephart Foundation. These internships are awarded through a competitive application process to four interns each summer.
- A minimum commitment of 150 hours is required. An honorarium will be provided upon completion.
- To apply for a funded internship, send a completed internship application (pdf), a copy of your resume, cover letter, official college transcripts and one letter of recommendation from a college professor to the Assistant Director of Education at the Valentine Richmond History Center. Deadline is March 1st.

How do I apply for a general (unfunded) internship?
- Send a completed internship application (pdf) along with your resume and cover letter to the Assistant Director of Education. Applications are accepted at any time.
I understand that the History Center is located in downtown Richmond. Does the internship include parking?
